WHY AM I HERE?

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world" Nelson Mandela.

To educate others, we must educate ourselves. This site has been designed as a place to document, update, and share knowledge, insights and resources, gathered during the journey of beginning teachers.

The realm of teaching extends far beyond the mundane and the ordinary. For a teacher to create a lasting impact long after their students have departed the classroom, a complex process needs to take place. A teacher's creed should ensure that they are forever seeking to bring out the best of a child, not only intellectually, but socially and emotionally. We want children who are empathetic & worldly, who can appreciate beauty & value. Children who not only are drilled with the fundamentals of maths, english and science, but are taught and nurtured with art, music & nature. We want to guide children in the discovery of their full potential, and provide them with the tools to allow them to continue their journey of self-discovery, long after the school day is complete.

Ultimately, as Nelson Mandela so succinctly stated, education is the key to creating change. But, as teachers, we need to aim to create a change that is long lasting. This means teaching beyond the curriculum, beyond standardised testing, and with the whole child in mind.

                             'What Teachers Make'

Achievement as a teacher is not a solo pursuit. If we want to move forward, we must do so together. This site aims to encourage the collaboration of beginning teachers, and to share all that is learned, and that which remains to be so. It aims to provide a range of resources for pre-service & beginning teachers, as well access to the current happenings in the world of education.
